Volvo C40 Electric Experience

Creating the world’s first online immersive car configurator

Strive Group were tasked by Volvo cars to create an online virtual car specification configurator utilizing the power of ICE (our Interactive Customer Experience offering). Unveiled at an event hosted at the Eden project, the application was used to help launch the new 2022 Volvo C40 Electric Recharge to the world.

Set in an idyllic pine forest on the edge of a lake, the car is showcased in a minimalist Scandinavian inspired house, which fits the ethical and environmental aspects of the car, but also reflects the design language of Volvo cars.

ICE was used to allow the user to move freely and fully explore the car and the environment at their own pace. We implemented interaction such as being able to open and close the doors, sit inside and interact with the media system, explore the vehicles interior, open the boot and bonnet and fit an external tow bar.

The interactivity also extended to finalising the paint finish of the vehicle and the interior specifications to the customers personal preference. The environment allows the configured choice to then proceed to purchase creating a full virtual sales solution experience.

In addition, as part of the experience the user could explore the space and move to a separate room which advertised the vehicle in further detail.

The application was made usable through a web browser, desktop and mobile devices resulting in a simple and effective innovative experience for the consumer.
