Papa John’s Stores
Redesigning Papa John’s stores for national rollout
With an outdated retail look, Papa John’s approached Strive Group to create a modern and attractive new store design. Papa John’s recognised the need to invest in the customer experience as a key factor to appeal to their expanding customer base and enhance future growth. The aim for the project was to implement the new design in a recently purchased unit in the seaside town of Margate, before embarking on a national rollout across the UK covering 450+ stores.
While focusing initially on the Margate store, templates and standards for smaller and larger scale stores were also designed. Strive Group collaborated with Papa John’s Construction and Development teams assuring design, implementation and production ran smoothly.
The project covered multiple aspects from interior graphics, space planning, identifying furniture and finish to bespoke graphics and detailing it all for production. The brief was to create a modern look and feel with urban elements and a high-quality finish with on-brand communications.
Strive Group designed bespoke ‘Pizza Loves’ graphics that were personalised for each space, creating identity, attachment and connection for the customer. The personalisation of the graphics demonstrate that Papa John’s care about the area and its people, and are proud to be a part of the community. The graphics display brand personality, reference emotive ways of life, eating choices and key parts of the local area. The design creates a sense of movement and fun with vibrant colours to appeal to their younger target audience, while also representing the fresh ingredients, and local lifestyle in the framed artworks.
Strive Group produced high quality internal and external visualisations to bring the new stores to life. These aspirational visualisations assisted in Board level sign off, created excitement and buzz for franchisee owners, assisted with new store development and franchisee on-boarding expanding the Papa John’s brand into new areas.
The success of the project is evident across the UK and can be seen in several Papa John’s stores. Due to the size and scale of the project the implementation is still on-going, with the aim to implement in all of the 450+ stores nationally. The customer experience reflects the brand and employees it encompasses, all connected through the new store design. The refreshed brand is demonstrated throughout, with employees being proud of ‘their’ revamped store and the customer experiencing a modern and enhanced store experience wanting them coming back for more.
