The Melt Cafe
Creating a fresh on campus cafe experience
Strive were approached to create a new brand identity and interior graphics scheme for the University of Birmingham Melt Cafe. The challenge was to increase sales and foot fall to the cafe by developing a strong, bold and bright brand with a vibrant interior to attract students to the new cafe offering.
After visiting the site to establish the potential for change and discussing the project with students and employees to get their take on a new direction for the offering, we worked alongside the University to create a fresh, eye-catching and bold identity, which would transform the cafe into an appealing destination for students.
We developed a brand which stood apart from all other on campus offerings, creating differentiation and appeal in a jovial, fun-loving manner.
A bright and bold brand identity was produced featuring elements of Zine culture mixing in aspects of food, animals and people in a fun, vibrant and bold way. Large feature graphics, food packaging and retail signage were produced with artwork curated for feature frames. The final outcome was well received by the students and created increased foot fall and sales into the cafe.
